Poet. Artist. Educator. Mom.
These are my significant identity markers. The many lens I view and interact with the world.
Kristina Rose Garcia is a confessional poet, artist and educator. Her first publication, [p.t.s.d.] features original artwork and poetry that navigates life after trauma. Borderline, her second publication featuring original artwork and poetry, navigates a world of mental illness and love. It brings the reader on a journey of destruction, toxic relationships and self love, and eventually making peace with past trauma in order to allow love and light in. The Hollow, the last in the series, explores how she finds light in the darkness, making peace with inner demons.
Kristina has been writing poetry and prose for over 15 years and creating art in various mediums her whole life. She majored in creative writing at Lehman College and was among the first writers to be published in Obscura, the college’s literary magazine. She teaches high school English in the Bronx and lives to help others find their voice, especially in writing. She hopes to inspire others to follow their passion no matter the obstacles. Single mother of two, Kristina enjoys family time, especially over a good book.
“To be an artist includes much; one must possess many gifts — absolute gifts — which have not been acquired by one’s effort. And, moreover, to succeed, the artist must possess the courageous soul.”Kate Chopin, The Awakening
